Dear Grandpa

Dear Grandpa,

I woke up this morning, and thought of you
Though you've been gone for many years,
The thought of you still brings me to tears.
Little things remind me of things you did.

I see candy orange and lemon slices
A smile plays across my face,
A tear lingers on my cheek,
For I remember how much you loved them.

You were always so strong,
Your passions have become my own.
I try my best to make you proud.
I have come so far.

I wish I could have asked you more,
Listened to more stories.
All that remains now, are pictures
And all the happy memories.

I hope wherever you are,
You are happy and at peace
I hope you are smiling down on us
Knowing that we miss you so.

So to answer your question,
You posed, long ago;
No, we will never forget you
You will be in our hearts forever!

I love you

The Slumber

So this is a poem I wrote eons ago, but I figured it's not going to do me much good sitting in my hard drive...so I figured I'd share it with the world (or whoever decides to stumble across it!) Anyway, enjoy!

The Slumber

I open my eyes from a deep slumber
The warmth of the sun on my face
I haven't felt its warmth for a while
How long have I been sleeping?
I can't seem to recall
There is only one thing I know,
I survived.
