Papers, pencils and books, oh my!

You'd think after graduating from a prestigious university, you'd be on your way to accomplish bigger and better things. Who knew that bigger and better actually means, "Nothing to do at all with what you studied in school but you'll still earn a decent living!" That's right! You stress, slave and study to no end, constantly telling yourself that it is all worth it. That despite going to the end of the world and back to get a somewhat decent grade, the final result will be much better. You'll get into that graduate school you've had your eye on, back when you first started your post-secondary education.

Back then, it seemed that life was so happy, full of hope and prosper! By the end of your three or four years, it seems you have learned how to convince yourself that you're fine, even when you know there not. True, this is an important skill one should have (making the best out of even the worst situation), however, the point is that whatever dreams we may have had when we were younger, they have all been washed away.

So what has university taught us? Not how to take knowledge and use it for the betterment of society. No, it has taught you how to make dreams, and break them when things get too difficult. However, there are those who hold on to their dreams, and in this case, the question then becomes...when is it time to let go? When do you know that your dreams will NOT come true? When is time for us to be realistic, and face the music? I guess there's really nothing more to be done, then to continue to have faith in oneself, and to continue working on our dreams. I suppose sooner or later they're bound to come true. Who knows, maybe someone eventually feels sorry for us, and decides to reward our persistence. I guess I'll find out at some point. Perhaps I should postpone these questions until a few years. I might finally have an answer by then!

Provincial Election 2007 - the NEW amazing race!!!

Well, in less than a week, it will be that time again...the time to vote!!!! Most years, I am all a flutter with the excitement of election time, with the thought of someone new being elected, and finally keeping their campaign promises, and leading us into a new era!!!! Unfortunately, every year, I am disappointed...and it seems, that this year will be no different. From what I've seen from the candidates (specifically Dalton McGuinty, John Tory and Howard Hampton), they're not concerned with many of the BIG issues out there. McGuinty and Tory seemed locked in the faith based schools discussion, while Hampton is concerned with showing the flaws in the McGuinty government. The more I read about these three candidates, the more confused I seem to get!!!! The election is on Wednesday, and I'm still uncertain who I will vote for!!! I will probably remain confused until I reach the polls, and then sit in the booth for so long a period of time, I will probably be forced to leave, regardless of if I've voted or not!!!! To me, so far, the Green party is starting to look appealing...they're the only ones that seemed concerned with the real issues! It's sad that no one seems to be taking them seriously (they were kicked out of the debate too, which I found unfair!) McGuinty, Tory and Hampton, seem to be concerned with making promises they can't keep, which is frustrating, because you know once you vote for them, more than have of what they're saying they'll do, they will not!!! So I suppose, any way you look at it, my vote is being lost! I'm either going to be voting for someone who won't listen to what is important to me, or I'm voting for someone who will never be elected!!! This is starting to seem like a lose-lose situation to me. Let's just hope that whoever we vote for, doesn't make us regret it some time down the road!!!

Jumping on the band wagon

So it seems that almost everyone, and anyone has a blog these days (I swear my neighbour's cat has one!!!) I figured, try as I might, I could not prevent the inevitable, so I might as well jump on the band wagon now, and start a blog myself!!!! True, I do not have anything quite so important, or no desperate need for a blog, but I've always been partial to writing out my thoughts, so why not, right? Well, this is only a short post because it seems that everyone's first post is usually a detailed explanation as to why they have taken up the art of blogging. Well, as mentioned previously, there is no real need, I just thought it might be amusing to put down any random thoughts that might pass through my mind on any given day (there are usually quite a few!!!!) Anyway, stay tuned for more random thoughts, pictures, and anything else that happens to pop into my head!!!! No idea who will want to read these random musings, but for anyone who does...I hope it's worth the read!!!!

Salut!
